Don’t rule out a job applicant just because he has a criminal record

We conducted a background check on an individual we wanted to hire and discovered that the person was convicted of a felony more than 10 years ago. Since then, the applicant has had an unblemished work history with excellent references. I want to hire the person, but my boss says no. What do you think?...
